Aww, I'm ganna miss ya Edgar! ;_;
So this was our last class! Today we rhetorically read your last essay! It was good, but I really want you to knock it out of the ball park!
We went over My and Josh's feedback, and discussed how to approach it.
Final dead line is Friday Midnight (If however, you need a lil extra time we can push that deadline back to Saturday Midnight! Just email me to let me know! :D)
Good luck and good writing! I can't wait to read your writing and get a really good an clear sense of not only what you learned this semester, but how you learned it, why you've learned and how you will use what you've learned in other classes! :)
ALSO, keep this blog bookmarked! I'll never close it down! You can return to it for info, to access the articles we read or to look back at our curriculum! You can use all the info here for research you may do later on in 1302, or other courses. If you ever need anything from me, help with papers, feedback or letters of recommendation., just email me: bonmgarcia@gmail.com : )

Deadlines
Alright, here are the deadlines we are working with!
Saturday Midnight: Completed 1st draft of Final Essay. (Look back Monday morning for feedback from me or one of the interns and revise accordingly. )
Tuesday, May 1st due in class: Revised Final Essay.
Remember our feedback is advice, and I'd like you to consider it to effectively revise your draft. You need to take the feedback we provide you and use it to your advantage, maybe we say something that doesn't fully mesh well or ask you to do something where you feel it could better be done or discussed else where! Then do it else where! At the end of the day this is your essay, your message, YOUR ACTION, driven by contexts you experienced this semester! (See what I did there? xD) Think of your purpose and work to write to that end as best as you possibly can!
Go back and re-read the prompt if you lose yourself! AND don't forget to address those prompt Qs! But only after you've completed a draft you are happy with! THEN, Return to your essay and see where you can elaborate to address the Qs.

FINAL REFLECTIVE ESSAY PROMPT AND LINK TO GOOGLE DOCS
Final Reflective Essay Prompt
Remember Edgar, your telling the story of what and how you've learned about reading in our class this semester. The questions in the prompt should help you tell this story but do NOT let them guide your essay. Instead write your essay and return to it, looking for moments in which you can address the questions.
I've included images of the board work we did today as well:

Make Up COLD reading
1.well how I usually approach reading not just this one but all my readings it is I read a paragraph, I just not read it but I meditate over trying to find out what is the author trying to tell me. I underline words that I don't fully understand I looked them up and then go back to reading.
2.sometimes when you read something with sophisticated text you might interpret it in the wrong way. So what we have to do is actually analyze it and look at it in a different way, maybe the text has a different meaning than what you think. so you got a look at that text into more sophisticated way so you can get multifaceted meanings. and not just interpret every word literally
3.I think that the word discourse in that paragraph is referring to a specific group of people, for example when he said “understood not only as content and
information, but also as the result of someone’s intentions, as part of a larger
discourse world" its referring to a reaction that someone in a specific discourse community will have by reading what we wrote.
4.rhetorical or reading it's a strategy. When you read rhetorically you just don't read every word and understand it and then go the the next. You read the word, you analyze it you break it down into more easy understandable way and be able to construct meaning through the text.
5.many people do this mistake, you might ask him what does this word mean, and set up taught you the meaning of that word they give you an example or they give you a synonym of that word. Same goes with what this question is asking. You are able to understand every word that you read yet your not able to analyze it summarizes it a you would not get the full meaning by just understanding every word.
