We finished up our Vocab in context entiries and then hit the board to figure out J&H.
We questions we asked Qs that would help us organize our understanding of J&H's article.
These Qs were:
- What is the article's Thesis?
- Who is the audience for the article?
- What is the author's purpose in writing?
- What is the author's Primary research? (This is the actual research they are engaged in doing, not reading other's work)
- What is the Author's Secondary research? (This is the reading the author has done about other peoples ideas and research, but not the research the author is engaged in doing)
- What did we learn from the article (the author's research findings)?
- What do the author's want us to do with what we have learned (what actions do they want us to take? This is a rhetorical point, where the author is using his or her research to urge us to do something!)
WE were all a little withdrawn and lethargic so instead of answering the questions today we focused on re-reading J&Hs article and looking for main points.
On Thursday we'll finish up the Q's and get started on a Summary and Response.
We divy up class time like this:
(05 min) 1:10 -1:15 -> As a class answer First Q.
(30 min) 1:15 - 1:40 -> Group up to answer remaining Qs.
(10 min) 1:40 - 1:50 -> Discuss and REspond to J&H.
(30 min) 1:50 - 2:15 -> Write up Summary and Response to J&H.
(10 min) With Remaining time we'll add to our Vocab in Context Journal as a Class.
(AND WE are Done with J&H! NO HOMEWORK OVER SPRING BREAK!) :D
